Are you looking for a singing teacher to take your singing to your full potential?
I teach personalised one-on-one singing lessons, and I can help you. I teach from beginner to advanced singers, from age 7. My students are from all sorts of backgrounds, with very different interests and goals. However, almost all students come to me with the same complaints:
- Not having ‘power’ in their voice (volume, projection)
- Singing ‘high’ notes
- Running out of breath
- Having a shaky voice
- Not having confidence to sing in front of others
- Feeling like they have to force the sound
I work with my students on these areas by building a strong foundational singing technique with them, so that they can sing when and where they want with freedom and ease.
What sets me apart
I am a trained opera singer and I have a deep understanding of the voice from my studies. However, I love all music, and I have experience singing and learning across many different styles of singing, including pop, musical theatre, folk, rock, and more. I teach technique learned from my classical training, through the style of music best suited to the student’s interest.
Does this mean you’ll end up sound like an opera singer when you sing your favourite pop song? No! If you work with me, you’ll develop a strong, clear voice, with a wide range. You won’t need to be afraid of high notes anymore, and you will finally be in control of your own voice. You will be able to use your voice with confidence and ease.
All lessons are recommended to be weekly for best results.
Adults: 60 minute lesson, 70€ per lesson.
Children aged 9-17: 45 minute lesson, 55€ per lesson.
Travel cost for home (domicile) lessons: 10€
Lessons are held at HF Music Studio, either Paris 75009 (Grands Boulevards) or Paris 75014 (Denfert-Rochereau).
On Mondays I teach in the Western Suburbs around Le Vésinet, Le Pecq and Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
I occasionally teach students at their homes, but I do charge an extra 10€ per lesson for this to cover the travel cost and time.
For Adults, I ask you book an evaluation lesson as your first lesson. We will get a chance to get to know each other, discuss your goals, and sing. You will be able to ask any questions you might have, and I will provide you with an evaluation of what I think I could help you with, and how I would go about it. I’m all about transparency, and I want you to be able to make an informed decision about choosing me as your singing teacher.
For Children, I ask you book an audition lesson as your first lesson. I give a -20% discount for audition lessons, so your first lesson will cost 45€, or 55€ for a “domicile” lesson.
Your first lesson with me: What to expect.
For our first lesson together, I will ask you to prepare a short song to sing for me, unaccompanied. It can be anything you enjoy and feel comfortable singing. We will talk about why you want lessons, your musical background, and what you hope to learn. You will of course get to ask me any questions you might have too. We will do some warm ups and vocal exercises together so I can start to get to know your voice. Most importantly, this first lesson is a chance to get to know each other.
What happens in a normal singing lesson?
Lessons will ideally be once a week, for either 45 or 60 minutes depending on your age and level. Within each lesson we will work on warm ups and technical exercises to build strong technique and healthy habits. We will also work on appropriate repertoire or songs, which we will choose together based on your own musical preferences, your singing goals, and what suits your voice best. You will be given clear practice goals to work on in between your lessons.
What level do I have to be to start singing lessons? Do you take beginners?
I teach singers of all ages* and experience. Whether you have never sung in public before, or have many years of experience singing in a choir or a band or as a soloist; whether you have never worked with a singing teacher, or had to stop lessons because you moved cities, I would be happy to teach you. When you get in touch, please tell me a bit about your musical background and experience. This will help me prepare for our first lesson.
*children can begin lessons from age 9.
Do I have to be able to read music?
The short answer is no. However, if you don’t already read music when you start lessons with me, this is something that will be a priority in your first lessons. I do recommend for children that it is best for them to have already studied another instrument before starting singing lessons, but it is not compulsory. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please don’t hesitate to ask me about it.
Do you teach group lessons?
I do not generally teach group lessons, as voice teaching is so personal and better suited to one-on-one work. However, I do regularly teach workshops! Read more here.
I do teach group Musical Theatre Classes for Children, from age 7-17, in Paris. You can read more about them here.
